LUKOIL Bulgaria EOOD was incorporated in 1998. The history of the LUKOIL chain of petrol stations started in 1999, after the privatization of LUKOIL Neftochim Burgas, the largest petroleum refinery on the Balkan peninsula.
In the first five years of its existence the company focused its operation on the establishment a state-of-the-art chain of petrol stations countrywide, opening as much as 120. As a recognition of the significant contribution to the Bulgarian economy, in 2003 the company was awarded the Investor of the Year award, and in 2004 — the grand prize Golden Wallet.
In the next years LUKOIL Bulgaria evolved to a market maker, traditionally winning the leadership positions in the Largest Company, Taxpayer of the Year, Largest Employer rankings. LUKOIL Bulgaria is among the largest Eastern European companies in the Top 100 ranking of the international agency SeeNews. The investments of the company are for the construction of new petrol stations, refurbishment of the Burgas — Sofia pipeline, the gas port in Ruse, refurbishment of petroleum bases, supplies centres, etc.
